Thoughts on ¨The Hobbit¨

After seeing both ¨Pans Labyrinth¨ and ¨Hellboy II: The Golden Army¨ i do not doubt that Guillermo Del Toro have the ability to create intriguing Fantasy worlds. (Even if i do consider both Mimic and Blade 2 to be two of the worst movies ever made). So, this means that i suddenly have something to look forward to in the two upcoming films based on Tolkiens ¨Bilbo¨.

But what exactly? Will ¨The Hobbit¨continue on the path that Peter Jackson set out with the Lord of the Rings trilogy or will Guillermo Del Toro create his own Lord of the Rings saga with his own special design and storytelling that we´ve seen in both Pan and Hellboy? Will he re-cast, or will he let Peter Jacksons casting for the LOTR-trilogy comeback, and so on.

Their sure is a lot of potential with The Hobbit and i hope that Guillermo Del Toro will do it to his own movie(s) and not just do another film to please the already existing LOTR-fans. But then again, who knows. I look forward to more information about this promising adaption!

Cher as Catwoman?

According to “insider sources” back at Warner Bros, helmer Christopher Nolan is ready to begin to work on the third and problably last installment in his more down to earth Batman-franchise that he started with “Batman Begins” back in 2005. According to the same sources Catwoman will be in the film, and Chris Nolan wants Singer and Academy award winner Cher to play her. The same information also says that this version of the character wont even be close to what Michelle Pfieffer and Halle Berry earlier have done in the past, she will have a whole different personality. If this is true or not i guess we will find out in the future.

Superman Returns..or not?

First of all i must say that i do believe that Superman Returns is a great Superman-movie, true to the Richard Donner original creation and basicly a really good return of the Man of Steel. There have been a lot of rumors about if their will be a sequel or not. Bryan Singer is obviously interested, and he have already made comments about that he will do a continuation after he have finished “Valkyrie” (starring Tom Cruise). Brandon Routh, who played Superman, also have confirmed that he have a contract that says that if the company do produce more Superman movies he will atleast star in another two of them. So..it seems its all up to Warner Brothers now to decide on if they do want to do another try with the franchise, or if they wanna give it some more time and try to find another path to go to find the same impression on Superman that he had in the past. Myself believe that copying the work of Richard Donner may not be the right way to reach Box Office Success, but instead try to re-invent the whole franchise, like Nolan did with Batman, for an example.
